WINDERMERE TO HOLD SEPTEMBER 11th
MEMORIAL SERVICE AT 1:00 PM ON 9/11/2011

Windermere will hold a 9/11 Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 11th at the site of the 9/11 memorial behind Town Hall. Joining Mayor Gary Bruhn will be other elected officials, Boy Scouts from local troops, and musical performances by members of the First Baptist Church of Windermere.

Windermere is home to a black granite memorial that displays a 650 pound piece of steel from the debris of the World Trade Center. The memorial, which stands 8 feet tall, incorporates 90 tiles representing the countries that lost people on September 11, 2001, each hand painted by Scouts across Central Florida. This Memorial was designated as America’s top Eagle Scout Project for 2010.
