WINDERMERE
TO HOLD SEPTEMBER 11th
MEMORIAL SERVICE AT 1:00 PM ON 9/11/2011
Windermere will hold a 9/11 Memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September
11th at the site of the 9/11 memorial behind Town Hall. Joining Mayor
Gary Bruhn will be other elected officials, Boy Scouts from local troops,
and musical performances by members of the First Baptist Church of Windermere.
Windermere is home to a black granite memorial that displays a 650 pound
piece of steel from the debris of the World Trade Center. The memorial,
which stands 8 feet tall, incorporates 90 tiles representing the countries
that lost people on September 11, 2001, each hand painted by Scouts across
Central Florida. This Memorial was designated as America’s top Eagle Scout
Project for 2010.
