The All-Volunteer Parks & Recreation Committee is Responsible for the Following:
Parks, beaches, and recreational trails
Recreational Services
Maintenance of parks and beaches, park equipment, walking trails, streetscapes (View Windermere parks and amenities here)
Park operation
Providing recreation programs, activities, and events including the 5K/10K Run Among the Lakes, Pet Fest, the Halloween Hayride & Costume Parade, and otherwise providing organized recreation events for the citizens of Windermere

Essential Functions:
Schedule and attend meetings to support the goals of this committee
Plan and conduct special events and educational training as required
Attend county, state, and national events to keep apprised of activities and laws concerning recreation
Advise Town staff and Town Council of any concerns or issues that might arise
Solicit support from county, state, national, and private sources including grants or other sources of funding

Important Notice: Pedestrian Access Gates!
As you may be aware, pedestrian access gates were installed at Lake Street Park (5th Street) and Lake Down Park (4th & Magnolia) to enhance safety and security. The gates were closed and locked on June 30, 2025.
Get Your Access Code: To access these parks, residents must visit Town Administration (614 Main Street, Building 100) to receive their personal gate access code. Please bring proof of residency.
Existing Fernwood Gate Code Holders: If you already have a Fernwood gate code, you'll need to update your account at Town Administration to gain access to these parks.
