Article title: Civic Plus / Next Request: Easier Access to Public Records!

At the Town of Windermere, we believe everyone should have easy access to public information and a clear way to communicate with local government. As Town Clerk, one of my priorities is making sure the public can conveniently request and obtain records in a transparent, efficient, and user-friendly way.

To help make this process easier, the Town offers an online Public Records Request portal available directly through the Town of Windermere website. Simply visit our homepage and click on the “Public Records Request” tab. From there, users will be directed to our official NextRequest portal: https://townofwindermere.nextrequest.com/

NextRequest is a public records management platform powered by CivicPlus that helps government agencies organize and streamline public records requests. More importantly, it provides the public with an easy and convenient way to access information while staying informed throughout the process.

The system was designed with transparency and convenience in mind. When a request is submitted, users receive a tracking number that allows them to follow the progress of their request online. The platform also sends automatic email updates, helping users stay connected without needing to make multiple phone calls or follow-up inquiries.

One feature I believe many people will find especially helpful is the searchable public records database. Requests and documents that have already been released to the public can be viewed directly through the portal. In some cases, users may find the information they need immediately, without having to submit a new request at all.

The portal also allows users to securely communicate with Town staff, clarify requests if needed, receive updates, pay applicable fees, and download records directly online.

Our goal is simple: to make access to public information as straightforward, efficient, and transparent as possible for everyone we serve. We are always looking for ways to improve communication and better serve our community, and this platform is another step toward that commitment.
