“Boating and Lake Care”
When enjoying our lakes, avoid spilling fuel, oil, or trash into the water.
A clean lake means a healthy environment for all!

“Rainy Season Ready”
Heavy rain can carry pollutants into our storm drains.
Keep gutters clear and dispose of chemicals properly before storms arrive.
For more information, visit our Stormwater Page: https://www.town.windermere.fl.us/page/stormwater

“Fertilizer-Free Zone”
Over-fertilizing lawns can harm our lakes. Use slow-release fertilizer, avoid fertilizing before rain, and keep it away from the water’s edge.
For more information, visit our Stormwater Page: https://www.town.windermere.fl.us/page/stormwater

“Car Washing Tips”
Wash your car on the grass or at a commercial car wash where the water is treated, not in your driveway.
Soapy water carries pollutants into storm drains. For more information, visit our Stormwater Page: https://www.town.windermere.fl.us/page/stormwater

“Yard Waste Awareness”
Yard clippings and leaves don’t belong in storm drains. They can clog drains and add excess nutrients to our lakes, causing algae blooms.
Compost or bag yard waste properly!
For more information, visit our Stormwater Page: https://www.town.windermere.fl.us/page/stormwater
#NPDES #ProtectOurLakes

“Pet Waste Pollutes”
Pet waste left on the ground washes into storm drains and adds harmful bacteria to our lakes.
Always pick up after your pets!

Did you know that anything entering a storm drain goes directly to our lakes, untreated?
Never dump oil, paint, yard waste, or debris into storm drains.
Keep Windermere’s waters clean!

The Main St. tennis courts will be temporarily unavailable during this upgrade.
Thank you for your patience as we make the courts brighter, greener, and ready for evening play!

Orange County Utilities is planning to make roadway repairs to E. 6th Avenue in the vicinity of the Lake Down Boat Ramp this Friday, July 25th.
Lane closures may be necessary to facilitate asphalt restoration, so please drive with caution in the area and seek alternate routes if possible.
Thank you for your patience as this important work is completed!

Starting Thursday, July 24th (or Friday, July 25th), a new paver walkway will be installed at the entrance to Central Park!
To ensure the pavers and concrete set properly, we ask residents and visitors to avoid this area until the project is complete and the walkway has fully dried. This area should be opened back for use on Monday, July 28th.
Please do not step on the walkway or remove any tape/barriers—these are in place to protect the new installation and keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your patience as we enhance the beauty and accessibility of Central Park!

Residents — we’ve previously shared information about the new pedestrian access gates at Lake Street Park (5th Street) and Lake Down Park (4th & Magnolia), and the need to obtain your personal gate code.
👉 If you missed that notification, this is your reminder!
To access these two parks, you must stop by Town Administration at 614 Main Street, Building 100 to receive your code.
✅ Already have a Fernwood gate code? You’ll still need to update your account to include access to these parks if you want to use them. Bring proof of town residency to process your application.
📅 The gates were closed and locked on June 30, 2025. Which now means access will only be granted via code.
Thank you for helping us keep our parks safe and enjoyable for all Windermere residents! 🌳
